I see duplicate products in the feed file. What should I do?
1. Duplicate entries may appear in the feed file if the generation process failed at some point and was restarted.
When the feed file is being generated, the data is first exported to a temporary (.tmp) feed file, which is converted into the permanent file as soon as the feed generation is complete. Sometimes, the feed generation process may fail due to the server related issues, such as high server load or insufficient PHP parameters, or due to incorrect feed configuration.
In such cases, a temporary feed file is not converted into a permanent one and remains on the server. When the feed generation is launched again, the products are exported to the same temporary file without overwriting its existing content. This may lead to some entries being duplicated in the feed.
How to solve the issue:
a) Go to the "media/productsfeed" folder in Magento® root on your server and remove temporary (.tmp) files if any exist;
b) Regenerate the feed file and make sure that the generation process is not interrupted. Successful feed generation overwrites the previous file and the duplicates will not be present in the feed;
c) Clean cache in your browser and check the content of the feed.
2. Products may be duplicated in the feed file if they belong to more than one category.
If your feed generation process was not interrupted and you still see duplicate products in the feed file, check which categories they belong to. Depending on the configuration of Magento®, the same products may belong to several categories. If your feed is configured to export all categories, such products will also be exported several times. Change your configuration to avoid this issue, or set a filter to exclude unnecessary categories from the feed file.
